Spouses and Children Left Behind
Remember the spouse, the parent, or child
left behind when the soldier leaves.
They are left alone to maintain a life
sometimes filled with pain and griefs.
Parades are planned and banquets served
for the soldiers when they come home.
Behind them stands a faithful spouse
or children still left alone.
The soldier makes a sacrifice
as they go where they were assigned.
But the greatest sacrifice of all may
be by those that were left behind.
